For many years now, people have not understood what the kung fu arts are really about. This page was created to set straight the fact and the fiction of this very mystifying martial art . I will debunk the many myths of the Kung Fu arts based on logic and the truth. It is my small part in helping others understand us.
Myth #1: Kung Fu artists cannot break rocks with their hands and feet.
No, it’s true: Kung Fu masters can easily break anything with their hands and feet. More importantly though is the use of their minds. The mind is the most dangerous weapon of kung fu. Without it, no martial art is effective.
Myth #2: There is only one fighting style of Kung Fu.
No, this is false. There are almost as many styles of Kung Fu as there are fighters of it. A style is usually named after an animal or monster. The name is chosen so that the kung fu fighter might get into the mind set of that creature in order to fight like one. It is known by scientists that the best fighters in the world are animals. One other note: when fighting with a style, call out the name of the style like “Dragon Leg Style” or “Monkey Tail Style”. Not only will this scare your opponent, but it helps remind you what creature you are.
Myth #3: Kung Fu fighting uses only your body.
There are two main reasons why this is false. First, the mind (as explained before) is the main force in Kung Fu.
The second reason is that Kung Fu may also use weapons such as swords, sticks, and chairs to fight. Of course, these items become an extension of your body when you fight, so in some ways the myth might be true. But especially when you fight against many opponents at once, do not hesitate to use a knife from the table or break a leg off that same table. When using the weapon, think of it as a longer or sharper arm than the one you currently have. In this way it is a part of your body.
Myth #4: Kung Fu is no fun.
Kung Fu is very fun. That is why so many video games concern Kung Fu. Do you really think there would be so many Kung Fu games if not for it being fun? And honestly, if it fun in a game, don’t you think it would be really fun to use these astounding skills in real life?
Myth #5: Kung Fu is only for Chinese people to perform..
I am not Chinese, and I practice Kung Fu daily. I know many people that are not Chinese that use Kung Fu to their advantage. Certainly the best masters are Chinese because of their Kung Fu heritage, but anyone can join.
Talk but no experimental facts at all.
